Update - 2021.11.22

What you need to know:
During the past year, Nextiva has become a popular business phone system for those looking for a multi line business phone system, in particular, because of its teleconferencing services. Recently, the company announced that they would be rolling out updates for their mobile application, contact center, and numerous other features. The goal is to provide small and medium businesses with a better customer experience.

For example, the Nextiva Contact Center is now integrated with the Nextiva Business Phone System, the major update for this multi line business telecom provider. This makes it easier for businesses to streamline their internal communications with their core customer communications. This should make it easier for employees to meet the needs of their clients.

The mobile application will now provide support within the application itself for audio files. That way, if anyone is using the application and has trouble, there should be support capabilities right there.

Some people have struggled with the NextOS Admin Dashboard, as customers wanted to make it easier to find what they were looking for. Now, there are more customizable features available. Businesses can now adjust their settings and route calls, which is particularly helpful for those who are looking for a VoIP phone service.

Nextiva is also rolling out new sales and service productivity tools. These tools make it easier for employees to track the journeys of their customers and clients in one place. That way, they will have an easier time moving people down a sales funnel, converting them at the bottom of the pipeline.

These are just a few of the many updates that are coming for this multi line business phone system provider early 2022. Nextiva has enjoyed a good year, and these updates place the business phone system provider in a position to grow in the coming months

Nextiva Features and Benefits

As a feature-packed telecom services software platform, Nextiva is unsurpassed. The powerful platform provides business users today’s most extensive array of digital telecom tools. Nextiva technology enables virtually all other networked business systems to integrate on a single central business platform.

Here’s a list of Nextiva’s prominent platform features, available at various levels of monthly service and the benefits they provide for users, all in one out-of-the-box telecom solution:

  • Auto attendant (unlimited multi-level) — For busy organizations, auto attendant services are immeasurably more efficient and less frustrating for users than waiting on hold for over-burdened live operators struggling to remember and prioritize callers and correctly route calls to the appropriate agents.
  • Voicemail transcription — The convenience of transcribed voicemail messages is a significant timesaver for today’s busy professionals, who tend to prefer forms of written vs. voice communications. Voicemail transcription also provides automatic documentation of the caller’s message.
  • Voicemail to email — Routing voicemail messages to email simplifies users’ process of organizing and prioritizing communications, and it saves time by providing a more comprehensive display of messages at a glance.
  • Business SMS — There’s a demonstrated preference among Gen X, Y and Z telecom users for text messaging over voice communications. Business SMS lets users communicate by their preferred method.
  • Team collaboration tools — Advanced team tools for communicating, scheduling, prioritizing, file sharing, strategizing, and more facilitate higher team efficiency and productivity.
  • Screen sharing — Having the ability for both parties to a communication to view the same information in real-time, vs. emailing or texting screen shots and waiting for responses, is a timesaver and an important advantage for clear and efficient interactions.
  • Unlimited virtual faxInternet faxing eliminates the need to buy and maintain fax machines and faxing parts and supplies (such as paper and transparency film), ensures receipt by the correct recipient, saves time, and automatically creates digital files.
  • Video calling and conferencing — Video communications increases retention of information, invites more robust collaboration, and offers remote workers the benefit of a richer user experience in professional telecom interactions.
  • Conference calling — Unlimited conference calling with unlimited participants per call liberates business managers from spending time coordinating calls and duplicating work to split groups for repeat presentations, or spending for travel and nonproductive hours to bring large groups to locations for in-person meetings.
  • Robust built-in CRM system — The unmatched NextOS is Nextiva’s powerful native CRM system. See details about NextOS below. The Nextiva CRM also easily integrates with virtually all existing customer relationship management (CRM) systems as well, including custom CRM platforms.
  • Cloud-based contact center — This solution enable call center operations to make and receive greater volumes of customer calls with fewer phone agents.
  • VoIP call encryption — Transmission of every digitally processed interaction is protected through Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption, delivering maximally private communications.
  • Power source fail-safes — Nextiva’s data centers are equipped with fail-proof power sourcing. This prevents power outages, enabling 99.999% uptime. Nextiva has achieved zero outages in the past three years.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review Top quality product. A++ Very easy to use user portals and back-end admin software. Doesn't require you to be a communications expert or engineer to figure it out. AND, whatever you can't figure out, their amazing Enterprise Support staff can...and they do so rather quickly.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review The lack of flexibility, for example, I have 6 active users and 15 licenses, as of a year ago only 6 users are active and I can't downgrade to the actual amount of users (Overpaying) for the service, and the contract terms are abusive. Cannot miss mentioning their "customer care" group is just rude.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review What a difference a new system can make on your business. Now, phone calls are going to the right individual in their department. Before using a VoIP service, our whole system was a mess. We had no department structure regarding calls, and they were being answered by the closest person to the main phone in their department.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review Nextiva has been a constant source of frustration for our team, and we feel this has very likely contributed to employee burn out. I personally experienced many of the same call quality issues and stopped using the platform because it was so infuriating. Poor call quality has also likely contributed to irreparable damage to our brand as customer calls are so frequently dropped or missed due to Nextiva’s problematic online platform and phone app.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review The quality of service is unmatched. The app is super easy to use, and keeps me organized. The service is great, I have never had difficulty with my calls. The customer service is excellent, staff is patient, friendly, and eager to help.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review The on-boarding process left much to be desired. I would have much-preferred someone to walk me through the system instead of having to rely on Quick Start guides. When emailing to check on the status of porting I didn't receive confirmation emails from the team to confirm receipt of needed materials.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review The connection between me and the customer is so gooood! There is no static line or choppy connection (unless its my internet who's acting up or its the customer's line). All the things that you need for a phone line is in Nextiva! Voicemail was set up, Transfer option, Conference call available. Multiple calls.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review Poor customer service, difficulty in getting answers from the company. Lack of concern despite that we paid to fly out their professional for the install which was incomplete when he left. Repeatedly told our issue was escalated to top tier tech professional who will call us.

  5. Gartner Peer Insights

Overall Rating 4.5 (393 Total Reviews) as of Jan 3, 2022

Here is a summary of the user reviews that people found most helpful. They were voted as most helpful for both positive and negative reviews out of the 393 available to read on Gartner Peer Insights.
Most helpful: Positive Review (Full Review) | Most helpful: Negative Review (Full Review)

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review We subscribed to Nextiva Office system in order to fulfil the telephony needs of multiple office locations and to support a 30 person call centre in the Philippines. Setup of the solution was very straightforward and minimal training was required for our average staffer (with more advanced training for the call centre staff).
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review During initial prospectus reviews, every challenge we presented was met with, "We can do that." Unfortunately, much of what we were told was either blatantly false or was far more complex that what we were led to believe. Our implementation was chaotic and virtually unmanaged. An implementation checklist was provided but was never referenced or reviewed.
