Ooma Review

Ooma is a leading business telecom provider. The provider became a global competitor due to its exceptional performance in responding to the growing demand for cloud VoIP unified business communications systems. Ooma’s unified communications as a service (UCaaS) product model is an industry groundbreaker.

The success of Ooma is attributable to its top industry experts performing evaluation and deployment of broadband infrastructure for high-performance customized business communications systems at affordable rates.

The company’s VoIP cloud-based telecom technology makes it possible for users to conduct networked business communications from any device for email, chat, SMS, web fax, and video. For small businesses and international enterprise networks alike, Ooma provides among the world’s most trusted telecom services.

Update - 2022.02.18

What you need to know:
Ooma is one of the most popular options for those looking for a business phone system, and the company was recently recognized by TMC Labs with its INTERNET TELEPHONY Innovation Award for the continuous voice features with Ooma Connect, a key capability for those looking for teleconferencing and VoIP phone service. During the past year, Ooma has developed a reputation as a strong business telecom provider. The platform was recognized with this award for its continuous voice capabilities, which is a patented technology. It automatically provides continuity for those making business phone calls using Ooma Connect, which runs using a nationwide network.

When users have enabled the continuous voice feature, all they have to do is flip a virtual switch on the iOS or Android app. Then, all office telephone calls are simultaneously transmitted using two separate links. The first is the primary broadband connection, such as cable, and the second is transmitted using a wireless network provided by Ooma Connect. The goal is to make the phone call more reliable. If digital voice data in one stream is congested and packets start to get dropped, the continuous voice feature will automatically collect the voice information from the other system instead. That way, users don’t have to worry about the quality of the call being degraded.

In essence, this creates a failover system. That way, business phone users do not have to worry about not being able to hear the other person at the end of the line. This makes it easier for employees to stay in contact with one another, and it makes it easier for staff members to meet the needs of their customers and clients. This is one of the most important features that has placed Ooma on the map, and it will play a major role in 2022 Unified Communication as a Service and beyond.

Ooma Office and Ooma Enterprise, together comprise Ooma Business, while Ooma Residential includes Ooma Telo services and Smart Security. Ooma’s Net Dollar Subscription Retention Rate was reportedly , which the company has determined was driven by growth of its user retention rates and its average revenue per user.

According to the release, Ooma’s financial position has remained largely unaffected by the global coronavirus pandemic to-date. The company reports that its primary revenue channel, monthly subscription fees in the U.S. and Canada, as well as revenues from other connected services channels, have remained relatively stable, which outcome it finds to be due to high rates of customer retention.

Ooma issued a press release in the first half of 2020 regarding the company’s current financial status, which was published by Market Watch on June 9, 2020. The report states that during Q1 of Ooma’s current fiscal year 2021…

  • Ooma’s total revenue was $40.3 million.
  • Revenue increased 19% from the previous year.

Why is VoIP Telecommunications Best?

Telecom Platform Migration Made Easy by Ooma

Traditional data migration processes can be fraught with errors and unexpectedly lengthy downtime. By contrast, advanced UCaaS migration is highly efficient and delivers a seamless experience for data users. That’s much due to the many advances in cloud technology that have been made in response to the surge in market demand over the past half-decade.

Ooma’s state-of-the-art UCaaS solution provides data migration for enterprise businesses with the least disruption to business operations of any available process. Here are some benefits you can expect from Ooma’s UCaaS automated data migration process:

  • Predictable workloads for your staff — Ooma migration experts efficiently manage the entire process, which minimizes stress on your IT department.
  • Rapid cut-over — Your team loses much less productivity time recovering from the consequences of excessively long cut-overs (such as the cost of disruption to operations, etc.).
  • Automatic repopulation of personalized user settings — The value-added convenience of finding their pre-migration chosen personal settings still in place means your staff can move on with less productivity loss waiting for and receiving help in completing their personal transition to the new system.
  • Many fewer migration-related helpdesk tickets — Automated UCaaS migration processes eliminate the typical flood of errors and resulting requests for help. The much smaller number of helpdesk requests minimizes difficulties for IT teams and enables data users to start using their new communications system and its upgraded tools with the least possible disruption of their routines.

Superior Network Security and Dependability

Ooma’s Enterprise telecom services network security ensures consistently exceptional voice transmission quality, utilizing a total of 7 global POPs and connecting users across the shortest possible distances from one POP to another. Security of the virtual PBX systems Ooma provides are further supported by the company’s failover systems and redundancy measures for maximum uptime reliability.

Major Savings for Ooma Business Customers

The total cost of ownership (TOC) of cloud VoIP telecom systems and traditional on-premises systems like the platform offered by Ooma are not comparable. Having a single integrated platform and a single telecom services provider offer additional savings for small businesses and enterprise companies as well:

  • Cloud architecture — There’s just no comparison between the costs of traditional business telecom services systems and the ultra-modern cloud-based alternative. A company of any size can reduce its service initiation costs to a tiny fraction compared to a conventional systems installation. The overall telecom services budget can be reduced by as much as 30% by migrating to a highly cost-effective cloud system on a monthly pricing plan with Ooma.
  • VoIP connectivity — Internet-based telecommunications enable field sales and services employees the advantage of easy access to internal files and systems they need in order to maximize their effectiveness. The legwork they save and the reduction of processing time accounts for significant savings. Plus, VoIP eliminates the need for additional paid vendors of video conferencing and other separate telecom services.
  • Unified platform — Unified business communications routed through a single platform streamlines systems to produce a stronger ROI. Business systems administrators are able to avoid typical difficulties inherent in networking across multiple sites and the predictably higher cost of depending on multiple systems management vendors.
  • Single provider — Having one global provider for telecommunications affords business customers the natural savings that come with greater efficiency, and with the economies of scale that benefit growing organizations.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review Ooma Office telephone system is easy to use, implements well with our internet, has all necessary accessories for our current phone hardware (didn't need to upgrade), and is very cost effective. The app for my phone makes it very easy to make and receive calls when I am out of the office with our old landline number. Our local phone number we have used for years was easily ported over.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review You miss every call and there is an insane feature that makes you press one to answer your calls on your cell phone. After you have already answered the call. Very annoying, very unsafe while driving, and it also adds to missed calls.

+ PROS: Most helpful: Positive Review I needed a simple voicemail tree for the two therapists at our wellness center. Ooma provides this simple solution at a cost effective price. Each therapist has their own direct line to make and receive calls as well as a main phone number that lets cleints call the virtual secretary and select which therapist mailbox to leave a message.
    - CONS: Most helpful: Negative Review Slow customer support. The support staff is knowledgeable and very friendly, but hold times are extremely long, and support calls were disconnected more than once AFTER a long hold time. There is no trouble-ticket system or email, so one is force to call and wait.
